Created in the U.S. as a
501(c)(3) charitable organization in April 2003, the DAAR Charitable Foundation
actively raises and provides funds to finance projects related to
the revival of the people and culture of post-Soviet era Ukraine.
Among its many past
projects, the DAAR Foundation has and continues to support a number
of foster children's schools benefiting the blind and mentally
challenged. In addition, DAAR also works toward educating all
Ukrainians about the World War II Holocaust and Holodomor (Stalin's
forced famine which killed millions in Ukraine in the 1930's.)
Beyond the past and the
minds of the future, DAAR also works toward returning Ukrainian
culture back to Ukraine, as evidenced by the return of 140 paintings
which escaped the country with renowned painter, Vasyl Krychevsky.
